I joined a group from the Bethlehem Garden Club to visit the 18th Annual Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden.
.
From Statue of Liberty to Coney Island, over 140 miniature buildings and bridges filled the Haupt Conservatory’s entire wing. Model trains and trolleys zipped by. The display, created by the award-winning designer Paul Busse of Applied Imagination, delighted young and young and at heart.

The buildings made of twigs, bark, nuts, vines fungi, berries, pine cones, seeds and other natural materials create a wonderland display of both the huge and the small.

Our group was surprised by the New York Yankees car flying past the Empire State Building, the Chrysler and other familiar skyscrapers. We wondered if it would have been Phillies train if our favorite Phils had won the World Series.
Kalanchoe, cyclamen, cactus, begonia, croton, gardenia, miniature evergreens and all manner of plants are set to scale with the buildings and trains creating a natural wonderland.
The train show continues until January 10. It was a delightful way to spend a December morning.

Hi Marie, this is a very great place to visit, I guess you enjoyed it a lot. I have heard about it and seen some pictures but never been there... maybe some day..
Muchos cariños
Maria Cecilia
p.s. and here is getting hot!
Maria Cecilia,
We had a wonderful time looking at the train display. The trains, buildings, lights and plants made it magical.
We had about 3 inches of snow here yesterday. The temperatures are in the high 20's this morning but will go to 40 this afternoon. I think the pretty winter scene will be gone by tomorrow.
Oh, Marie, I've not been reading or posting lately and I hate to miss even one of your posts.
This minature train display looks amazing. We have a National Railroad Museum here in GB and Phillip would much rather spend his time at the miniature displays than climb aboard the real trains.
Just for the record, I was cheering for the Phillies.
Hi Donna,
Thanks for the Phillies cheer. They didn't play as well as I had hoped.
I agree with Phillip. The miniature trains promote more imaginative thinking than the real trains. I remember my little train under the Christmas tree and dreaming up stories for the little people, cars, trucks, houses, trains and all. They are such fun.
