Spotted Dead Nettle

Lamium maculatum

Since I’m still having computer problems and can’t access many files or pictures, I’ve been trying to answer my own question about new plants for next year from memory.
I think my brain hurts.

One plant I’m sure to add is spotted dead nettle.

I plan to buy some “White Nancy’. I’ve seen this pretty white bloomer in other gardens. It should brighten the dry shade of the large French Lilac. (See Spring Pruning post from May 12, 2010.)

I’ll move some ‘Purple Dragon’ that has done well under a locust tree. It blooms most of the summer.

I hope to get more color around the lilac. It’s a tough place to grow plants - dry and full of roots. Time will tell.

More information on Lamium maculatum ‘White Nancy’ and ‘Purple Dragon’ from Dave’s Garden.

I’ll be on vacation starting next week. Hopefully, when I get back at the end of the month the computer problems will be fixed. I’ll have lots to share of my travels and I will be able to plan for next year’s garden in earnest.

I wish you all a joyful Thanksgiving.

I love the varigated leaf on the Dead Nettle. That has been on my list for sometime...maybe this Spring is the time to do something about it!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I do hope the computer problems work themselves out, and you can tell us all about your trip.

Thanks for your get well wishes for my ill computer. I'm a wreck trying to figure it out but help is coming tomorrow. I'm currently hooked up to my old computer which doesn't have current files but at least it's working. I keep telling myself to think positively.

The dead nettle that I have had near the locust tree has been very low maintenance. I hope it thrives under the lilac. Can't beat pretty, long-season blooms AND low maintenance.

Thanks for sharing the gorgeous-looking turkey with us. Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful, fun vacation.

Computer problems.....just the thought of it makes me ill.

Is Spotted Dead Nettle the same as Lamium 'Beacon's Silver'?

Donna,
I believe 'Beacon's Silver' is a variety of Dead Nettle.

I'll be having my turkey aboard ship this year. Yahoo! Someone else is cooking!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I'm going to assume that means you're back in PA....on dry land. I'll be looking for a new post from you and hopefully some news of your cruise.

Take care. Fondly, donna

Me, again. I can't remember if I thanked you for leaving a comment on the Coo Coo Kid's blog a while back. Very thoughtful of you. Next year we're going to use bigger containers for our pumpkins in hopes that we harvest more than two pumpkins.
