The last two weeks have been very hectic. I haven’t had much time in the garden. And, the weather has been oppressively hot and humid – heat index in the 100’s. I thought I’d share a few plants living in my garden. They seem to thrive without any help from me.
.
Astilbe – nurtured for years and now on its own
.

.
Asparagus – gift from a neighbor delivered by birds or wind.

ReplyDeleteI am in Reading - not far away, and relieved that the heatwave broke last night. I wanted to know more about your Red Hot Pokers. My mom has some in her yard, but they don't seem to bloom a lot, and the plant doesn't get much bigger. I think they get too much shade. Are yours in full sun? Did they need watering, or do they do pretty well in the heat?
ReplyDeleteHi matriarchy,
ReplyDeleteThe red hot pokers are in sun until late afternoon. I don't fertilize or water them.
This is a good year for them in my garden. (I don't know why :-) )Some years I have only 2 or 3 "pokers".
I read a bit of your blog and added it to my favorites so I can go back and read more. It's great to meet a local garden blogger.
Thanks for stopping by.
I added you to my favs, too - it IS fun to find garden bloggers close by. Yay!
