Garden Bloggers Bloom Day – April 2010

Over the years, I tried to grow primrose without much success. I even began to call them “stinkin’ primrose”. This primrose, in its third year, is my first success. It was a gift from a friend’s garden. I don’t know its name but I know I’m happy to have it in my garden. (If you know or have a guess, please leave a note in the comments.)

The trees and shrubs are perfect today.

White lilac

Purple lilac

and spectacular azaleas

Ah, Spring!

From a brown, chilly March to a bright, colorful April - there are sure to be many examples blooms in the links at Carol’s blog for April Bloom Day. I can’t wait to see what is blooming around the world. Visit May Dreams Garden blog and enjoy!

The dogwoods and redbuds are about through here in North Florida. It seems like they didn't last long at all. The azaleas are still blooming like crazy. I think the cold weather during the winter actually made them bloom more.

Hi Melody. Thanks for stopping by. Spring looks beautiful in your garden. I don't know if the cold winter had anything to do with it but Southeast PA is having a spectacular bloom time too. It almost makes all the snow shoveling worth it (almost). LOL

Lots of flowering trees and shrubs, in so many colors. I really love the pink azalea. i have one like that but can't find another. The ones they sell in the nurseries here are all purple :(

Hi Sylvana,
I got the azaleas quite a few years ago at an end of the season sale - 2 for $5 - at a local nursery. That turned out to be a real bargain!

How lucky you are to have so many lovely flowering trees and bushes in your yard, especially this time of year. Lilacs will always be among my favorite of the flowering bushes. Aahhh! I can smell the fragrance right through the computer.

Do you have the Corvette out yet? We finally took ours out of storage last week.

The smells and sounds of spring are intoxicating to me. The robins and cardinals are in love.

We haven't had the Corvette out this year since we've spent so much time with my mom. But soon - very soon.

Dear Marie, how great to see Spring is warming your days and giving you so much joy in your wonderful garden!!! Heaven is coming down to your part of the world now... so good for me to have a shelter there when I need it.
Things are getting better here after the great shaking, slowly, very slowly.
Muchos cariños,
Maria Cecilia
